Amanda Zink, owner and president, and James Jensen Jr., owner and vice president, of Air Control Home Services in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, were recently announced as this year’s recipients of the Federated Insurance® ACCA Super S.T.A.R. Award.
Each year, Federated Mutual Insurance Company, the insurance and risk management partner of ACCA, honors an ACCA member who is a Federated® client and exemplifies the award’s four pillars: safety, teamwork, accountability, and responsibility.
Established in 1990, this second-generation family business was originally founded by Zink and Jensen’s parents and continues to serve the community with expertise in air conditioning, heating, air quality, plumbing, and electrical systems. For the siblings, fostering employee well-being remains a core principle of their leadership.
“Safety has always been a big focus of ours,” said Zink. “It’s something that was instilled in us all since day one of working at Air Control Home Services.”
To maintain this high standard, the company implements rigorous onboarding processes. “All new hires are provided with our safety manual on their first day of employment to review safety policies and procedures, and then sign an acknowledgement,” she explained, adding that safety videos and training quizzes are also required.
Beyond onboarding, the company holds interactive safety meetings to keep employees engaged. “Sometimes the smallest mistakes can have huge, unexpected consequences,” Zink noted, adding that cell phones are a primary danger for employees in the field. To mitigate this, they focus heavily on safe driving practices and discouraging cell phone use behind the wheel.
Air Control Home Services utilizes resources from Federated to support their safety initiatives. The company takes advantage of mySHIELD®, a personalized, online destination for risk management resources provided by Federated for clients. In addition, one of their key employees attended the Federated Insurance Risk Management AcademySM for contractors in 2025. They brought useful industry insights back to the business, along with hopes of attending again in the future for continued education.
Above all else, Zink reinforced workplace safety as a top priority. “There are so many people in the industry willing to help,” she said, adding that the best advice is to ask questions and never be afraid to reach out for assistance.
Federated® is proud to serve as ACCA’s Platinum Strategic Partner, supporting their members with insurance and risk management solutions since 2009. For more information about ACCA and this award, reach out to Federated’s National Account Executive Patrick Cunningham at pjcunningham@fedins.com.
