Refrigerant recovery and compliance aren’t going away. If anything, tightening HFC phasedowns and new state-level regulations are making them a bigger part of the job. A-Gas helps contractors manage that reality through high-speed recovery, tank exchange, and buyback services designed to save time and generate revenue from used refrigerant. Here’s what the A-Gas team had to say about their partnership with ACCA.
Why did you decide to partner with ACCA?
We value being an ACCA Partner because ACCA provides so many resources for HVACR contractors while also giving them a larger, collective voice in the industry. From webinars to guides to the annual conference and local chapter events, there’s a way for every contractor to get the information they need to do their job and grow their business. We’ve seen the value firsthand at the annual conference, where we’re had the honor of presenting two years in a row.

How does A-Gas empower HVACR contractors to be effective and successful in their jobs?
A-Gas is proud to provide multiple avenues to enable HVACR contractors to benefit financially from their regulatory compliance. For example, our Rapid Recovery service will help contractors by recovering refrigerant at up to 10 times the speed of traditional recovery equipment, allowing them to capture refrigerant per EPA 608 compliance. Our expert EPA-certified technicians not only save contractors’ valuable tech time but also ensure all recoveries are compliant with regulatory requirements. This service eliminates the hassle and risk associated with refrigerant handling, offering a safer and faster alternative so contractors can tackle more jobs.
Our Rapid Exchange service brings clean, empty, in-date recovery cylinders to contractors, so they always have recovery cylinders for their jobs. Both services seamlessly integrate with our industry-leading refrigerant buyback program. Through our buyback program, contractors can get value from their used refrigerants, making Rapid Recovery and Rapid Exchange economically beneficial while optimizing operational efficiency.
For contractors not near one of the 50 different metropolitan areas across the country we support, we have a National Buyback program for contractors looking to sell their used refrigerant.
We also partner with wholesale suppliers through our Refri-Claim program where we provide wholesalers with clean, empty, in-date recovery cylinders for contractors to swap for their full recovery cylinders. By partnering with wholesale suppliers, we bring the resources contractors need to a place they already visit for parts and other supplies. Our wholesale partners will provide various methods of compensation, such as store credit or additional loyalty points.

What sets your company apart? Do you have a unique product line, service offering, or company culture?
What sets A-Gas apart is our commitment to managing the full lifecycle of refrigerants. We don’t just supply refrigerants to the market; we also recover and reclaim refrigerants, supporting the future supply refrigerants. In the face of HFC phasedowns, it’s imperative every pound of gas is recovered and reclaimed for future reuse, so we have enough service gas in the future.
Can you share a specific example that demonstrates your commitment to HVACR contractor success?
A recent example of success was when one of our Rapid Recovery teams worked with a contractor who was decommissioning over 200 cooling units at a data center. The contractor was able to focus on decommissioning the units while our Rapid Recovery team focused on recovering the units across the data center. With such a large job, having a dedicated partner to focus on the refrigerant recovery meant that the job went faster.
Our Rapid Recovery teams across the country also work with contractors engaged by food retailers. Due to our speed, we’re able to recover racks of refrigerant faster, making their jobs easier. It also reduces the risk of lost stock for the food retailer.

What are you excited about in the year ahead?
A-Gas is always excited to provide contractors with the resources they need to do their jobs – be it recovery or tank swap services, supplying their wholesale supplier of choice with certified reclaimed refrigerants, or buying back their used refrigerant. As certain states enact refrigerant legislation, we’re also excited to provide clarity to contractors on what they need to do to comply. For example, as of April 1, New York State began enforcement of Part 494/495, which prohibits the sale and distribution of bulk HFCs or HFC blends exceeding GWP limits.
